What happens if you are charged with plagiarism in University? How does it affect you and your transcript?

If you are charged with not citing an article properly, otherwise known as plagiarism or presenting someone else's ideas as your own, what happens next? Please share experiences and advice on how people fare when it comes to plagiarism in University.What happens if you are charged with plagiarism in University? Well, if you don't cite an article properly (by accident or ignorance, take your pick) it's probably just a few points off of your paper and maybe a small slap on the wrist so you don't do it again.





If you willfully present someone else's work as your own, then at the very least you would fail the assignment or test. Usually it's grounds for a failing grade in the class; and it wouldn't be inappropriate for the University to expel the student.





Keep in mind that there may also be legal consequences, especially if the original work was a registered copyright(s).What happens if you are charged with plagiarism in University? How does it affect you and your transcript?
Normally you would be lucky not to be expelled. It sullies the uni's reputation.
