How will a university know if a school transcript is official?

Will the university call the other institution or have a system? What would be the process? How will a university know if a school transcript is official?
The best transcripts are ones that you've never touched - if they're in sealed envelopes or sent directly to the university, they'll believe that. If you hand something in yourself, most universities won't even touch it.How will a university know if a school transcript is official?
Official transcripts usually carry official things, like a watermark. They are also postmarked from the school, contain the registrar's signature, etc. If something looks off, they would call and request another copy.
University's only accept offical sealed transcripts. Your HS will print off your transcripts with an ';offical'; stamp on them. Your HS will either mail them direct to the colleges you applied to or they will hand you a sealed marked envelope. If the envelope is opened the college will not accept them.

At our high school you had to give the school a two week notice to mail out your transcripts to the college.
