How bad is it to have a ';W'; on a transcript while planning to transfer?

I want to drop my English 1A course (prerequisite) because it's very inconveniant for me and I don't have a lot of time for it to do essays and such (I have to work and pay rent). I was going to retake it next semester at a better time, and I plan on transfering. This is my first year of college at a community college in California. My major was going to be International Affairs, but I might change it to Law.

Thanks!!!How bad is it to have a ';W'; on a transcript while planning to transfer?
Since a ';W'; does not affect your GPA, it won't count against you. A ';W'; is better than an ';F'; grade. Just keep in mind that if you have excessive ';W's'; on your transcript, that does not reflect very highly on you. Because this just your first ';W';, it should be okay.

Before you withdraw from your English class, make sure you are registered for the minimum amount of credits if you are receiving Financial Aid or if you need to be full-time for medical insurance purposes.

One ';W'; is not going to kill you. It's really not a big deal. However, if you get anymore, admissions will start to have their doubts about you and your college potential.

But, I have to tell you, most students also have to work and pay rent. You don't want to use that as an excuse to not do the classwork. And trust me, an English 1A course is just the begining, it should be relatively easy.

Good luck with your transfer though. Like I said, one ';W'; should not affect your chances of getting in.
It should not adversely affect your transfer. Many students drop a course during their college career.
