It depends on what you want to do after college. It will probably look ok to employers unless you want to get a political science/sociology job, but grad schools won't like it too much. Conveying to people that you were interested but didn't have the time is not really something you want to do--they'll probably start thinking you get easily distracted.
I think the same goes for pass/fail, but it will probably look a little better to take things pass/fail if you can. That way, you can actually get credit for taking the class. Taking something audit just means you were there, but it shouldn't really count as credit.How does auditing look on a college transcript?
