First of all, welcome to the debate community. Good to have you.
Now, most colleges feel that debate is an extra-curricular subject, and therefore, don't care about it that much. However, having a bad grade in any class can and will hurt your grade. Fortunately for you, and A- is an exceptional grade.

It doesn't look bad at all. Most colleges look at debate as a secondary subject, and an A- is still a very good grade. You should be fine.
