As long as the transcript has your name and SSN (which I believe it does), it should be acceptable. In the future, you should always keep a copy of your tax returns and they should be retained for at least 3-5 years, including the supporting documentation for the income and deductions claimed on it. Even if they are e-filed, you should be able to get a print out copy of it.Does anyone know if a transcript of taxes is as good as a complete copy?
A transcript is okay, that is what we used for my husband's green card.
Immigration will accept a transcript issued by the Internal Revenue Service. You can call 1-800-829-1040, to obtain a transcript of the yrs that immigration is requesting, if you have access to a fax machine they can fax it to you, otherwise it will take 7 to 10 days mail time.
The Internal Revenue Service provides this service to 1000's of people going thru the immigration process
These immigration people will try to find any excuse not to grant your applications. I would recommend tracking down a complete copy if you can do that in time. If you can't find a complete copy, an official transcript from the IRS might be okay. You may want to write up an affidavit or have your lawyer compose a letter explaining why there are no copies (such as lost in a fire or something).
