I was wondering if its possible for colleges to give me an official copy of my college transcript. I heard that they only mail it to other schools if you are planning to switch. Is it possible to keep a copy of your college transcript?
You can order a copy for yourself. However, if you need a transcript for some reason (grad school, a job, etc.), most will not accept a copy that is not sent to them directly from the school itself. Is it possible to keep a copy of your college transcript?
In my experiences, yes, you can request and pay for a copy of your own official transcript, but be advised that in order for it to remain official, it must be sealed in an envelope with the school name and code stamped on the outside. Once it is out of this envelope, it is no longer considered official. What I have done is printed copies of my unofficial transcripts and brought those along to interviews and then if the potential employer wants to see the official transcript, I contact the school and give them the information on whom to address it to and the physical location. They have no problem mailing it out as long as I pay the appropriate fee(s) first.
Didi,
Yes, it is possible.
But, if a job or other school requests a copy, they will only accept a copy you haven't touched.
I experienced this several times last year when I was looking for a job following military retirement.

No, you need to contact the registrar's or bursar's office and order a copy to pick up. Once the seal is broken on the envelope, it will no longer be official, but you will have a copy. Most universities charge a fee for transcript copies.
Yes you can. You'd still have to pay the money to get it printed, but you can request that it get sent to you at your address.
Yes you can have a copy. I ordered several when I was job hunting.
They'll give you one sealed in an envelope whenever you ask for it! That's been my experience
